Buchanan Community Services Program


Operation Threshold’s Buchanan County office provides a number of services to residents of Buchanan County. Services provided out of the Buchanan County office include many of those provided in Black Hawk County , including Energy Assistance (LIHEAP), Crisis Assistance, Weatherization, WIC, and Family Development Services. Other programming/services available to Grundy County residents specifically include:

  • Stork’s Nest program
  • Family Nest program
  • Early Head Start
  • Operation Santa Claus
  • School Supplies Drive
  • Share the Warmth
  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

All services are aimed at helping families address a current crisis and/or assist families with developing skills to attain self-sufficiency.

Generally, participants must earn below 150% of the federal poverty level to be eligible for many programs. However, some programs have different income eligibility limits (such as WIC, Weatherization, and Early Head Start).
